Navy +6.5

This game opened Army -3.5 and over 90% of the wagers have come in on Army driving the line to -6.5 before settling at -6 today.  This is understandable in light of Army’s dominance over Tulane in the ACC Championship game last week (an easy winner we gave out in this column).  However when the academies get together, we tend to see low-scoring, competitive affairs and Navy has double-revenge as extra motivation having gone 14-6-1 in this role when taking fewer than 20 points.  Take the motivated dog in this low-scoring affair.

The playoff picture continues to develop, with the standings going into this week as follows:

With only four games between teams with winning records, and injuries and playoff implications introducing uncertainty, we have two plays for you in the NFL:

Miami Dolphins  +3

A win here effectively doubles Miami’s chances of making the playoffs while a loss almost eliminates them while the Texans have all but mathematically ensured a playoff spot.  Take the points with a better (marginally) team with something to fight for.

Kansas City -4

The Chiefs have locked up the AFC West and lead the second place Chargers by 4 games, but have just been skating by losing seven straight games ATS in the process.  Normally I look to fade teams like this.  Meanwhile, the Browns have lost four of their last five to the spread, and have been eliminated from the playoffs.  Usually, I wouldn't get involved in a game like this, but this low line is a gift and I believe that Coach Reid will look to this game as an opportunity to fine tune and get sharp. Kansas City is better in every statistical measurement I track and my number has them winning by over two touchdowns.
